Self-referencing tables

Self-referencing tables are an evil data construct. I know they represent real relationships and all... but if you need to do a batch update of a table, it is practically impossible, because you have to do your inserts in a very specific order, and there is no guarantee that the data doesn't have some sort of circular reference... I wish Access would allow you to turn off relationships for a little while...
